Junior Doctor (NCHD) CV Example

NCHD posts in Irish hospitals attract a lot of applicants, and consultants shortlisting for SHO and registrar jobs read CVs quickly. Put your Medical Council registration, your rotations and your on-call experience on the first page, then show audits, presentations and teaching. Those are what separate you when Basic Specialist Training applications open.

Questions

What should a junior doctor put on page one of a CV?

Your name, Medical Council registration, current post and a short summary, followed by your rotations in date order. Shortlisters want to see your clinical exposure and on-call experience straight away.

How do I show audits and research on an NCHD CV?

Give each its own line with the topic, your role and the result, for example a change in compliance. Completed audit cycles and presentations at grand rounds or meetings count for more than a long list of interests.

Should I include my intern rotations?

Yes, especially early in your career. List each rotation with the hospital, specialty and dates, and one or two lines on what you managed, such as caseload, on-call cover or procedures.
